Entrains is located 180 kilometers (about 113 miles) to the south of Paris. It is situated midway between Cosne sur Loire and Clamecy in the Nièvre region. Coming from Paris, Entrains is accessible via Autoroute (Highway) A6 by taking the Joigny exit (132 kilometers, or 83 miles from the Porte d’Orléans), and then proceeding along a charming regional highway that crosses through the Yonne villages of La Ferté Loupière (where you can see an marvelous Thirteenth Century Dance of Death), Toucy (the birthplace of Pierre Larousse), Saint Sauveur en Puisaye (the birthplace of Colette) and Sainpuits. Coming from Lyon, you should exit Autoroute 6 at Avallon and pass through Vézelay (famous pilgrimage stopping point along the Saint Jacques de Compostelle route) and Clamecy (birthplace of Romain Rolland). The traveler will quickly appreciate that these special places brim with history and culture, and he or she would be well advised to take the time to stop and visit, dine, and relax along the way.
